LAWS OF                                THE GAME

1. Equipment MVP supplies

·      Full scale goals

·      Nets

·      Corner Flags

2. Ball

-        It will be a size 5 ball. All balls will be supplied by each team. MVP will NOT have any balls at the field site. Both teams are required to bring the standard size 5 ball. No ball equals no game.

3. MVP rules regarding fair play

-        We always encourage fair play between teams.    MVP does reserve the right to oust, cancel, terminate and player/s team/s that we feel are playing in an overly aggressive, unsafe, unfair manner.

4. Game Length

-        Games are 90 minutes in length. Sandwiched in between is a 5 minute halftime. Warm up time is 10 minutes in between games

-        In the event of a game where a winner needs to be determined the game will automatically go to a Penalty shootout. The PK shootout will be in a best of 5 format. All penalty shots will be started on the refs whistle. Failure to do this will result in you retrying your shot.

5. Substitutions

-        No limit on substitutions.

-        Subs must wait til the substituted player leaves  the field before entering the field himself

-        Refs must see the substitution taking place or the substitution will be considered invalid. It is the responsibility of the managers to make the refs aware of such actions

-        Substitutes enter the field of play at the half way line.

-        All substitutes must be registered with MVP and recognized as a player under the team he has subbed in for. Failure to comply leads to the offending teams forfeit.

6. Team and Player Registration

-        All teams and players need to register with MVP. We do not accept a non registered player to play on our fields or in our league.

7. Basic Equipments requirements

-        MVP requires the following…

A.    Stockings (socks to knee high)

B.    Shinguards covered by socks

C.    Cleats or indoor soccer shoes

D.    Jersey match of your team. Numbers cannot be identical on the same team

E.     Soccer shorts

F.      Jewelry is prohibited

*If a player does not meet these requirements the ref will ask him to fulfill it. This makes him/her ineligible for play until such requirements are met and the player in question is properly substituted

 8. Celebrations

-        MVP supports self expression in a healthy playful manner. You can take off your shirt in celebration. Dancing is OK as well. Naturally any taunting, swearing, or degrading at the other team will result in an automatic red card for the offending team/player/s

    9. Referee

-        Referees enforce the rules

-        Referees are not here for you to abuse. Any, and we mean ANY, swearing, cursing, threatening, abusing (physically, verbally etc…) will result in a red card and most likely expulsion from the league.

-        Referees keep the scoreline and timeline for every game

-        Referees protect the rights off all players involved

-        The referees word is final. Any dispute would need to be handed into the offices within a 48 hour period. You can reach the league email at mskilj@mvparena.com. If this is NOT submitted by this time the call will stand and no further action can be taken by any interested parties.

    10. Forfeits

-        If any player/s from any team/s is not registered and is current with their membership

-        Less then 7 players show up by the 15th minute into the game. All teams need a minimum of 7 players to start a game. A game can commence if the opposing team wants it to. Then no forfeit is possible and the result of the game will stand

-        If any team starts a fight the game will be automatically forfeited by one or both teams depending on the nature of the event.

    11. Red Cards

-        We do enforce the last man rule. This league is a competitive one and we wish to respect the underlining principle of fair play and honesty in sport. If you are beat you are beat. Any tugging, kicking, pushing, blocking, impeding, obstructing etc… that the ref feels prevents a goal scoring opportunity will be penalized by a red card immediately.

-        Red carded players need to remove themselves from the field. If this does not happen within 5 minutes of receiving the red card the game will be forfeited by the offending players team.

-        Any fighting, meaning physical fighting, which includes but is not limited to kicking, punching, slapping, wrestling etc… will see a red card and possible expulsion from the league. The refs word is final on these matters. If you wanna fight join a boxing gym. Any foul language directed towards another player, threats etc… will receive a red card

-        MVP will fine red cards 50 dollars. All appeals must be submitted to our offices by the following game. If this does not happen the red card is finalized and the debt needs to be paid by the team or a possible forfeit may be enforced for games that the balance is due.

-        2 yellows = a red

12. Yellow cards

-        Cautionary card

-        Offenses that are deemed unsafe, careless, irresponsible play.

    13. Offsides

An offside is judged when an attacking player is behind the last defender when the ball is played to him. If he is judged to be not involved in the play the offside will not be called.

Closing thoughts… have a great time playing in our league! Play hard, Play smart and play fair!

All my best… Michael Skilj
