There are only two proven hitting techniques: Linear and Rotational.

The Linear technique has you move forward and continue THROUGH the vertical axis. Otherwise known as "chopping wood". The Linear hitting approach is coming forward and hitting on a slightly flexed front leg. Some examples:

The Rotational method moves you forward to your balance point, at which time you stay ON or BEHIND the vertical axis, depending on pitch location. The rotational hitting approach is staying back and hitting against a rigid front leg. Some examples:

The Linear technique of hitting has been the technique used by baseball's most productive hitters and the mass majority of baseball's Hall-of-Fame hitters. However, more and more high school and college baseball and fast-pitch softball coaches are switching over to rotational mechanics to increase power and are seeing a huge difference.
